Processing Archivist
Biography
Shawna Rose is a Processing Archivist with a passion for preserving and sharing history. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) with a Graduate Certificate in Archives and Special Collections from Louisiana State University, complementing her Bachelor of Art in Art History from the University of New Orleans. In her role, Shawna applies her knowledge of archival materials and information management to support Newcomb Archives mission to preserve, collect, and make accessible the history of gender and sexuality in the Gulf South. Her expertise is enhanced by her academic training, background in art, and a deep commitment to the work of updating archival practice to be more inclusive, self-reflexive and purposefully empowering. Outside of her professional work, Shawna is an enthusiastic feminist, book artist, poet, and loves performance art. Her interests in bookmaking and writing poetry reflect her dedication to the arts and her belief in the power of creative expression. Shawna is excited to contribute her skills and knowledge to the Archive and collaborate with fellow professionals to advance the work within archives and special collections.
