Newcomb Institute at Tulane University is a preeminent academic leader in the Gulf South focused on cutting-edge gender equity research, training the next generation, and igniting change with action.

Research Focus
We conduct multidisciplinary research with a focus on the Gulf South and in partnership with both government and community partners, to provide evidence for programs and policies that improve gender equity and women’s empowerment. This work includes data and evidence generation, creation of open-access datasets, collecting and preserving archival materials for public access, and training undergraduate and graduate and post-doctoral researchers.

Join us for Conceiving Equity 2026, with poster presentations by Newcomb Institute's student interns, followed by the annual Roe v. Wade Lecture with Jessica Valenti. Jessica Valenti, author of the New York Times bestseller Abortion, is a writer, activist, and one of the country's most influential voices on gender and politics.
