Biography

Julie Qiu is the Department Administrator for Newcomb Institute. She provides advanced levels of administrative and project support for the Executive Director and Newcomb Institute. Originally from Memphis, TN, Julie received her B.A. and M.A. in English from Tulane University. She worked in China as a teacher and academic consultant for three years, providing local schools with curriculum and social program development. Before Newcomb Institute, Julie worked as an immigration adviser and student services manager for international students in New York and as an administrative assistant at the University of Delaware's Honors Program. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversees all financial, personnel, and operational activities. 
  • Designs and produces reports for administrative decision-making and performs statistical analyses on financial performances and activities.  
  • Drafting major gift proposals for Advancement and Development.
  • Special programs: Literary Programming Committee, Tulane International Society, APARG (Asian Pacific American) Reading Group, Co-Chair to NIDE Committee, Co-Chair of AANHPI Faculty and Staff Affinity Group, and Staff Advisor for Tulane International Society
