Research Focus

We conduct multidisciplinary research with a focus on the Gulf South and in partnership with both government and community partners, to provide evidence for programs and policies that improve gender equity and women’s empowerment. This work includes data and evidence generation, creation of open-access datasets, collecting and preserving archival materials for public access, and training undergraduate and graduate and post-doctoral researchers.

Breaking Research News
Newcomb Institute is expanding its Violence Experience (VEX) surveys across the Gulf South, releasing the Mississippi Violence Experiences Survey (MsVEX). We are proud to launch state-specific, population-level data on violence across the lifespan to guide evidence-based decision-making when it comes to early prevention efforts, stronger support systems outside law enforcement and sustained population-based tracking of violence.
