Substance Use and Mental Health in Louisiana

In 2023, Newcomb Institute conducted a statewide survey that included an assessment of mental health and suicidality in Louisiana. The survey results show that substance use has reached epidemic proportions in Louisiana. Severe depression/anxiety and suicidality are also common, which makes mental health concerns a major public health issue in the state.
