Anna Mitchell Mahoney, PhD

Anna Mitchell Mahoney earned a B.A. from Loyola University in Mass Communications, a M.A. in Women’s Studies from the University of Alabama, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Rutgers University. She joined Newcomb Institute as an Administrative Assistant Professor of Women’s Political Leadership in August 2014. In 2016, she became Director of Research for the Institute.  

She has taught a range of courses at the university level including Introduction to Women’s Studies, American Government, Congressional Politics, American Race Relations, and Women and American Politics.  

Laura Kreller

Laura Kreller is the Senior Program Coordinator to the Executive Director for the Newcomb Institute. She holds a BA in Health and Wellness and is currently pursuing her masters in Health and Wellness Management from the School of Professional Advancement (SOPA) at Tulane. She is passionate about wellness education and improving mental and medical healthcare access to underserved and culturally diverse communities. She is also a proud advocate for LGBT+ and reproductive rights.

Jacquelyne Thoni Howard, PhD

Jacquelyne Thoni Howard is an Administrative Assistant Professor of Technology and Women's History. She earned a Ph.D. in U.S. History from Fordham University, an M.A. in History from the University of San Diego, and a B.A. in History with a minor in secondary education from Loyola University New Orleans. Jacquelyne leveraged her liberal arts degrees to gain extensive experience in digital scholarship and instructional technology. 

Elizabeth Hearne, PhD

Elizabeth Hearne earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Oberlin College and holds a master’s and a doctorate in history from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She has taught at UIC, St. Francis College, and Kendall College, and she served as a course associate at Columbia University for a graduate-level class on change management. Elizabeth previously served as Associate Director of Administration for the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution master’s degree program at Columbia University and held program management roles at Hunter College and UIC.

Rebecca (Becky) Gipson

Becky Gipson is the graphic designer and web specialist for Newcomb Institute. She manages all programs and activities related to the visual brand of the Newcomb Institute and manages the institute's web presence. Becky received her post-baccalaureate in Digital Design, specializing in Interactive Design, from Tulane University and has two BFA's from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Bernadette Floresca

Bernadette Floresca is the head of archives management and strategies at Newcomb Archives and Vorhoff Collection at Newcomb Institute. Bernadette holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture, a Master of Library and Information Science, and a Graduate Certificate in Archives and Special Collections from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a Master of Liberal Arts (with an interdisciplinary focus on gender, sexuality, and art) from Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement.

Clare Daniel, PhD

Clare Daniel is the Senior Professor of Practice and Director of Research at Newcomb Institute. She received her doctorate and master's in American Studies from the University of New Mexico and her bachelor's degree from Macalester College in German Studies and English with a Women and Gender Studies minor. Her research, teaching, and student program administration focus on reproductive rights, health, and justice. Her book Mediating Morality: The Politics of Teen Pregnancy in the Post-Welfare Era was published in 2017 by the University of Massachusetts Press.

Lory Arnold

Lory Arnold is the Events Coordinator for Newcomb Institute, where she coordinates various student, alumnae, and faculty events. She is originally from Columbia, MO and received her MBA, with a concentration in marketing and finance, from Stephens College. Prior to joining the NI team, Lory worked for three years as the Student Development Coordinator at the University of Missouri – Columbia where she advised student organizations and organized events for the Missouri Student Unions.

Julie Henriquez Aldana, Ph.D.

Julie Henriquez Aldana serves as an Administrative Assistant Professor of Women’s Leadership and Director of Student Leadership and Engagement for the Newcomb Institute.  She earned a B.S. in International Trade and Finance (2003), M.S. in Human Resource Education (2005), and a Ph.D. in Human Resource Education with a concentration in Human Resource and Leadership Development (2017) from Louisiana State University. 

Laura Wolford

Laura Wolford is the Interim Executive Director of Newcomb Institute. She has a BA in English from Reed College and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas, Austin. At the Newcomb Institute, Laura oversees all administrative and operational aspects of the Institute. She takes lead responsibility for annual budgeting, annual program planning, and space management and manages programs and staff related to budget and administration, event planning, communications, and faculty engagement.
