Biography

Laura Wolford is the Interim Executive Director of Newcomb Institute. She has a BA in English from Reed College and a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas, Austin. At the Newcomb Institute, Laura oversees all administrative and operational aspects of the Institute. She takes lead responsibility for annual budgeting, annual program planning, and space management and manages programs and staff related to budget and administration, event planning, communications, and faculty engagement. Laura directly manages several programs, including the Newcomb Fellows, several endowed lectures, and Summer Session; she administers grants and manages the postdoctoral fellows program. She serves as the Newcomb representative on campus-wide sexual assault prevention initiatives. Laura coordinates Newcomb’s signature literary event programming: the Zale-Kimmerling writer-in-residence program and the Arons visiting poet program. She teaches a first-year colloquium on Dismantling Rape Culture and serves as the program administrator for the undergraduate certificate in Gender-Based Violence.
