Speaker: Hope Xu Yan, PhD

Bio: Hope Xu Yan is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Louisiana State University. Her research centers on how social inequalities in health and well-being are (re)produced through families. She mainly applies quantitative methods to study (1) social inequalities in motherhood and their consequences for mothers’ well-being and children’s developmental outcomes; (2) time use and health disparities; (3) gender inequalities and women’s well-being in India and China. Her work has appeared in leading journals, including American Sociological Review, Demography, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, and Social Science & Medicine.
