Leslie Holzmark Franklin (NC’ 88) and the Colorado Green Wave Club didn’t let not being in New Orleans keep them from letting the good times roll (literally). They hosted their first-ever CARnival parade on Saturday, February 26th, in metro Denver.

Twenty-two participants, including Newcomb alumnae, Tulane alumni, family, friends, and even a local high school senior who was recently accepted to Tulane, joined in the festivities! Cars were decked out with streamers, balloons, banners, Tulane cheer gear, Newcomb pennants, window paint, and more.

Leslie sang the praises of fellow club member Teresa Bruno Warkentin (SLA’ 07) for organizing the 4.5-mile parade that circled Denver’s Sloan’s Lake neighborhood, starting and ending at Edgewater Public Market, where partygoers could enjoy food hall fare, craft beer, and festive cocktails. “Celebrating Mardi Gras parading down the streets of Denver was the next best thing to being in New Orleans!”

If you are in the Denver area and want to join in the fun with the Colorado Green Wave Club, including their upcoming Give Green happy hour, email coloradogreenwave@gmail.com.
