NCI's Technology Initiatives provides:

  • Resources for faculty working on digital research that contributes original research to their field,
  • Opportunities for students to obtain unique technology skill-sets to supplement their majors and minors,
  • Community spaces and digital resources that supports the increase of Women Technologists and gender-related research topics.  

Digital Research Internship Program 
The Newcomb College Institute offers undergraduate students the opportunity to obtain a technology skillset with tangible experience working on digital projects in the humanities and sciences. This paid internship program supplements students’ major and minor fields of study when seeking employment or other technology internships. Interns work with Tulane faculty, graduate students, and staff on digital projects that contributes original research. 


Grace Hopper Celebration Grants
Newcomb College Institute will host a group of undergraduate women-identified students to attend the 2018 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing in Houston, TX from September 25-28. Eligible Tulane students must indicate an active interest in a technology career, possess an updated LinkedIn account, and be in their junior or senior year during the Fall of 2018. Priority will be given to those who have applied to the GHC 18 scholarship. The NCI funding will cover airfare, double occupancy lodging from September 25 to September 29, transportation, and conference celebration registration fees. Students will be responsible for their own meals during the trip.


Digital Research Lab
Newcomb College Institute provides students a space to work on technology-related projects and to study in  a Mac-oriented digital media lab with software and resources for projects incorporating video and audio production, web design, and graphic design elements and a lending library. All Tulane students and faculty are welcome to use the lab and lending library resources.
