This symposium brought together the work on NCCROW Visiting Scholars Anne Daniell, Stella Baty Landis, and Rebecca
Snedeker. The research of these three scholars explores the intersection of spirit, or soul, and place. Their individual studies
examine recent theological, musical, and cinematic manifestations of the spirit-place dynamic through cultural expressions in
and surrounding the city of New Orleans. Ultimately, this symposium will suggest the potential of post-Katrina New Orleans
to resonate as a broader societal model for the spirit-derived creation and healing of place.
