Through classes coordinated by the Newcomb College Institute, students can complete some of their core curriculum components. Courses cover a range of topics and provide a unique combination of theoretical coursework and practical experience outside of the classroom.
A sampling of courses include:
- Sophie the Riveter: Women Rebuilding New Orleans
- College Women: Images in Film & Historical Realities
- Reading and Writing Women
- Feminist Documentation & New Media
In addition, the
Collat Media Project provides undergraduate women access to computers, audio/video equipment and software to document the latest news from the Newcomb College Institute and New Orleans. The project was established by the Collat Family [Charles and Patsy Weil Collat (NC '53), Nancy Collat Goedecke (NC '81), Catherine Collat Mendel (NC '82), Susan Collat Adams (NC '86)]. The Newcomb College Center for Research on Women coordinates the project.
